Our suggestions so you can decide well
Choose the appropriate professional.
Plastic surgery is a surgical speciality and, even if theoretically
any doctor may perform it, only the ones who have been trained
in this discipline will obtain the results desired. The specialty
requires eleven years of formation: six of career and five of
resindency.
Where the scalpels pass through a scar is left.
Plastic surgeons aren`t magicians that make them disappear. What
we do know is how to hide the scars taking advantage of certain
tension lines of the skin and using stitching techniques which
are especially delicate.
The scar formation is an individual biological process.
Each patient responds in a different way. Pathological scars exist
(red marcs, wide and thick) that nobody can prevent and that occur
in approximately 0,5% of the patients.
The minor surgery doesn`t exist.
Every surgical intervention has risks. The demarcation of them
requires that the prevention and security measures are applied
rigorously around the surgical action.
Don`t be scared of general anesthetics.
The anesthetic risk (with general or local anesthesia) always
exists, but it is insignificant if the preventative measures are
taken.
Not everything is achievable.
It is essential that you explain to the surgeon what the results
you expect are and that he/she informs you of the real possibilities
of obtaining them. In fact, it may be possible that no intervention
is necessary.
In a very small percentage the result of a plastic surgery
differ from the expected one.
This is because medicine isn`t an exact science since many biological
factors are involved. Nevertheless, there are a series of technical
elements that, if done, take us closer to a good result.
Trust the experience.
and don`t let yourself get blinded by those who promise "miracles"
and apply "the last innovations". It`s proven that collagen injection,
as well as the silicone oil injections, the golden threads and
other techniques of the aesthetic medicine don`t resolve anything,
on the contrary, many times cause problems.
All of the bothers that may appear in the post operative
period, (pain, transitory physical incapability, hematoma,
edemas, etc.) are best supported if one goes into the
surgical room completely convinced of wanting the operation
done and not influenced by a family member or the doctor you consulted.
Remember that the decision of getting the operation done
is an individual, private and intimate act. This is the
only surgical specialty where the patient is the one who decides
to have the operation done or not.
