Sclerotherapy
This is a specific method for small varicose veins, residual or spider
veins. The most used technique consists in applying an injection of a
chemical substance which causes the varicose veins to collapse and disappear
in a two to four week span. This method doesn`t exclude a surgical treatment
and doesn`t avoid the progression of the varicose illness by which new
varicose veins may keep on appearing, which must be treated as soon as
possible to avoid their extension.
The sessions are ambulatory and once a week so as not to damage the skin.
They are not painful and the patients may continue with their normal
activities. In most cases it isn`t necessary to apply an elastic bandage
after the sessions. The aesthetic results and the improvement of the
symptoms (pain, tiredness, heaviness) are highly satisfactory in a short
term.
