Maxillofacial fractures
Facial traumatisms, either pure or associated, are of importance in
accidents. The ones with more impact are the ones caused by sport and car
accidents.
The traumatized patient must be assisted at the location the accident took
place, where the initial phase of the treatment must be done, which consists
in maintaining the aerial way permeable, control of the possible hemorrhage
and the adequate preparation for the patientīs transfer. Until proven
otherwise, it must be considered that all facial traumatisms are also a
skull and cervical traumatism. Once in the assistance center, the diagnose
stage begins, as well as the evaluation of the injuries and an appropriate
planning of the surgical treatment that must take place.
